Volunteer fundraising events

Many people who fundraise for us create JustGiving Pages, making it an easier and seamless process for raising funds. We appreciate that not everyone can or wants to do it this way, so if you'd like to be listed in this page with our JustGiving fundraisers, don't hesitate in getting in touch.

As a token of our appreciation we list here our current volunteer fundraisers. All JustGiving Fundraiser Pages can be seen here. We'd like to thank everyone, past, present and future who fundraise for us as all money goes towards our vital work in raising awareness of depression and providing services.

Most recently we have seen an incredible effort by ten men who took part in the Adidas Thunder Run at the end of July.

  • Sean Reid and his team (pictured above, left) ran consecutively for 24 hours, running a total of 460km between them! To date they have raised an incredible £2723 for Action on Depression.

Other upcoming volunteer fundraising events:

Starting at the end of March, Claire Wilson will be running, jogging or walking at least 5km every day for 50 consecutive days! This fantastic event can also incorporate swimming and aerobics - we wish Claire the best of luck for what sounds like an enormous challenge!

On 27 April Craig Barton takes to the Highlands, to a 10k course which has been voted by Runners World as the most scenic road race in the country. Why not join him!

On 28 April Victoria McIntosh will be running the Madrid Half Marathon. Over 13 miles in the heat of central Spain - good luck Victoria!

Five brave comrades will be tackling their fears by free-falling from the Forth Rail Bridge, dropping 165ft SAS-stye. Places are still available for the abseil on 27 October - we'd love to hear from you if you'd like to take part.

Taking place on 25-26 May, Shelley Steed and Alan Thornburrow will be running the 26+ miles for Action on Depression. If anyone else feels kind (and brave) enough to take on the challenge, we'd love to hear from you. Click on the link above for more information.

At the same event Alan Gordon will be repeating his success of last year, aiming to beat his prevous time in the 10k run. All the best, Alan!

On 8th June Alice Morling is taking to the skies, taking part in a tandem skydive for Action on Depression. Good luck Alice! If you fancy the ultimate adrenaline rush Skyline offer skydiving and parachuting opportunities all over the country.

In July, Pamela-Anne Carpenter is going to do something she has never done before, and that is walk up West Lomond Hill. She says: "I know 27 years in Fife and never done it, but I plan to now. People don't know this, but I suffer from HMS and recently found out my tendons are not they way they are meant to be, they are spongey and icky apparently, so I am awaiting to hear from a knee surgeon, but I was told that I could do this and to use my crutches if needed. SO I will still be doing it :)"

Tough Mudder events are hardcore 10-12 mile obstacle courses designed by Special Forces to test your all around strength, stamina, determination, and camaraderie. As the leading company in the booming obstacle course industry, Tough Mudder has already challenged half a million inspiring participants worldwide. But Tough Mudder is more than an event, it’s a way of thinking. On 24 August Ross Duns is taking on this incredible challenge in Dalkeith, Edinburgh.

On Sunday 22 October a brother & sister team of Laura and Paul Caven will be taking part in the fantastic RoadBlock Run. This CHSS organised event is a 10k fun run, over barriers and obstacles where fancy dress is actively encouraged. We have a few more places available so please get in touch if you fancy a 10k run with the emphasis on FUN!
